Gevalia till folket
Kaffe kom till Sverige 1685. Vid den tiden betraktades kaffe som medicin. Först i mitten av 1800-talet blev kaffe en populär dryck. Ungefär samtidigt registrerade en företagsam 26-åring företaget “Victor Th Engwalls Handelshus i Gefle”. Det året, 1853, hade Gävle 9 500 invånare och minst 80 konkurrerande detaljhandelsföretag – ett påtagligt bevis på stadens betydelse som en av landets viktigaste hamnstäder.

Vid vårt Gevalia-kafferosteri i Gävle drivs produktionen redan av den kraftfulla energin från vattnet, medan vinden ger liv åt vårt Cafitesse-kafferosteri i Joure. Samtidigt arbetar vi oupphörligt med att finslipa och förbättra våra processer, så att varje kopp kaffe kan avnjutas med ännu bättre samvete.
